ABOUT DAN HENRY:
Dan Henry is a photographer, writer, and artist whose work is shaped by a lifelong love of music—especially jazz and hip hop—and the raw, kinetic beauty of New York City. An artist since childhood, he picked up a camera nearly 30 years ago and has never looked back. Photography became his way of telling stories with power and elegance, whether capturing the soul of a musician or the lines of a building.
Drawn to the rhythm of the city and the music that scores it, Daniel finds particular inspiration in the venues and voices that continue to define New York’s jazz legacy. His work reflects his deep affection for the city and the art forms that give it pulse, revealing both its history and its ongoing improvisation.
Things Unseen: An exploration of the middle ground between light and shadow
These black and white photographs capture more than performances—they seek the instant when music is created, the brief space between intention and sound. Shot in intimate New York City jazz rooms where past and present share the same air, the work highlights the unseen connection between today’s musicians and the giants who came before them. In the tension between light and shadow, stillness and motion, the viewer is invited to look beyond the image and sense the moment of creation itself.
ABOUT MATT BAKER:
Matt is a world-renowned jazz musician heralded as “the Australian piano whiz” by The New York Times and described by British music executive Tony Hall as “one of the most respected and versatile pianist-composers yet”. Matt leads The Matt Baker Trio in New York and performs regularly at jazz venues including Birdland and The Blue Note. He tours both within the USA and internationally and has released 6 albums to date. He is a photographer, musician, and entrepreneur.
